The alamo and Art in History have teamed up to provide two projects that allow you to take home a piece of history. Each project comes with paint, sponges, brushes, palettes and step by step painting instructions.
This project is a replica of the Spanish Frescoes in the Alamo Shrine. These frescoes were applied to the wall of the Alamo Shrine in the late 18th century by the native converts of Mission San Antonio de Valero, only to be discovered two hundred years later! Today this artwork can easily be viewed in the Sacristy of the Alamo Shrine.
This project is great for the classroom, too! It can be used in conjunction with lessons on the influences of Spanish culture on North America, early colonial settlement of the Americas, the Spanish conquest, or as part of a greater study of world cultures.
