MORE ADVENTURES & RECIPES FROM HUDSON'S ON THE BEND
Jeff Blank's creativity and orignalit in the kitchen have made him one of the most celebrated chefs in the country. Blank has owned Hudson's on the Bend Restaurant in Austin, Texas since 1984. Before that, he owned and operated The Wineskin Restaurant in Aspen, Colorado.
He has been praised by the New York Times, Texas Monthly, Men's Journal, Field and Stream, M Magazine, Gourmet Domain, Cooking Light, Spirit, and Chef's Magazine.
Jeff has been nominated for the "Tribute to James Beard" Award and in 1996 and 1997, won the people's Choice Award at the Texas Wine and Food Festival in Austin. One of the restaurant's most prized accolades was being named to the list of the "Top 50 Restaurants in America" by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine's food editor, Mimi Sheraton.
IN 2001 Jeff entered into a partnership with Texas Steve Smith to open Ocotillo restaurant at Steve's resort on the Big Bend of the Rio Grande. Lajitas Resort and Ocotillo restaurant sit on the Banks of the Rio Grande River and serves Jeff's cuisine with a desert twist. He calls it Hudson's on the Big Bend. Jeff's next restaurant is being built at Escondido on lake LBJ just outside of Marble Falls, Texas. All of his restaurants are on the "path less taken." His motto is "let's see how far they will drive to eat our food."
